London Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremonies…blah!

BOOM!!! How about Starling Marte’s debut last night for the Pirates! That was awesome. I was listening to the radio a little today and they were already comparing him to Rickey Henderson and Roberto Clemente – two of the best to ever play the game – so I think people are going a little far, but it sure was impressive and a breath of fresh air to see him finally come up and make an impact.

Anyone looking forward to the opening ceremonies for the Olympics? Truthfully I’m not. I don’t like the dog and pony show that they put on. I could do without all the glitz and glamour. I really do enjoy watching the actual games but the opening ceremonies just don’t do it for me. I will buckle down and watch and keep track of the games when they officially begin, but I’m going to pass on the opening activities.

I get to try out my new sprinkler system this weekend to attempt and get my yard to somewhat a shade of green again. It really isn’t a sprinkler system, more of me connecting a couple of hoses to a pair of sprinklers I bought recently for like three bucks each. We shall see how it goes. I’m sure I will get made fun of by the neighbors and even more so my wife. If it works, screw everyone and their expensive sprinkler systems!

One movie that is on that no matter what time of day or what day of the week or what time of the year it is, one movie that I will always watch is Shawshank Redemption. I don’t give a crap if it is two minutes into the movie or two minutes left in the movie, I can’t turn that off. Don’t tell me that you guys don’t do the same damn thing with certain movies. Mine are pretty much Shawshank, A Time To Kill, The Negotiator, Rounders and Hoosiers. Love those flicks and love them even more when they show up on USA Network on a rainy afternoon!

Not really any plans for the night except to put together a new toaster oven I got. That and telling my daughter princess stories before bed pretty much wraps up the week for me! This weekend should be fun though, but I will be back soon to lay it all out.

Stay thirsty, my friends.
